Pupils at Gorsey Bank Primary School have been rallying together to collect donations for the Children’s Adventure Farm Trust (CAFT).
CAFT is a charity that offers fun experiences for terminally ill, disabled and disadvantaged children in the North West.
Pupils and staff collected over 100 selection boxes and chocolates to donate to CAFT in support of their Christmas Appeal.
Hannah Grahame, a fundraiser for CAFT, visited the school on Wednesday to collect the donations.
Representatives from the Treasury, who form part of Gorsey Bank’s Pupil Parliament, presented the donations to Hannah on behalf of the school.
She explained to the pupils how their efforts will help CAFT: “this Christmas, we are having 3,000 children minimum who will come with their families to the adventure Farm to have some time in our Winter Wonderland.”
“When they come, they get to experience things that they would otherwise miss out on.
They have a lovely time in the woodland toasting marshmallows and crafting Christmas decorations.”
“They will also have a chance to meet Father Christmas and receive a gift and a selection box from him.
Because of the donations from Gorsey Bank, that’s made our life a whole lot easier, as 3,000 children is a lot of children!”
When asked why they chose to lead the appeal in school, pupils from the Treasury said: “CAFT help disadvantaged children to experience something that we do as part of our normal daily lives and take for granted.”
Another pupil said: “we are donating so they feel like they’ve actually had a really good Christmas”.
Hannah thanked the pupils for their help: “Without the support that we get from schools and local community groups, we wouldn’t be able to achieve what we do.
We’d like to say a massive thank you for the ongoing support from Gorsey Bank.”
In 2021, CAFT was selected as the primary school’s chosen charity.
Last Christmas, pupils took part in a shoebox appeal, collecting toys for the children CAFT support.
If you would like to support CAFT, donations can be made via the Treasury’s Justgivng page.
If you know a child who would benefit from CAFT’s support, get in touch with them and follow their Facebook page for updates.
