The Summer Term has been one full of excitement for Gorsey Bank! As we reach the end of what has been an amazing year, we would like to reflect on some of the highlights from the final term before the Summer Holidays…

The teddy bears have their picnic with Reception and Year 6

Reception and their Year 6 buddies took their teddy bears down to the woods for a big picnic!

It was lovely in the shade of the trees on a warm day for the pupils to spend some quality time with their buddies before Year 6 prepare for the move to High School. From your buddies in Reception, good luck Year 6 and thank you for all of your support, you have been fantastic role models!

A fond farewell to Year 6…

Year 6 have given us a lot to remember them by over the past few weeks. At the start of the month, they put on a brilliant show over two nights in their production of Peter Pan!

Thank you for all of the help we have received over the previous few weeks in putting costumes, props and the show itself together.

Last week, Year 6 presented a unique Leavers’ Assembly! The pupils put on a hilarious and entertaining show with some great impressions of their teachers, but still left us all feeling emotional… It has been a pleasure working with these children and watching them develop over the years.

We wish them the best of luck for the future and thank them for the positive impact they have made over the years to our school!

180 pupils from Years 3, 4, and 5 played at Bridgewater Hall alongside the Hallé Orchestra! The performance was unforgettable and we couldn’t be more proud.

Thank you to Love Music Trust for providing them with specialist music tuition over the first two terms and Mr Eccles for all his amazing support this year!

The Year 5 and 6 choir loved performing at the Cheshire Show in June, treating the audience to a heartfelt rendition of Gary Barlow’s Sing. Thank you Love Music Trust for having us!

Year 1 explore the universe at Jodrell Bank

In June, Year 1 had an amazing day at Jodrell Bank. They enjoyed lots of exciting activities including a planetarium show in the Space Dome, where they whizzed through our galaxy to visit lots of different planets, as well as exploring some constellations.

They then headed to the Star Pavilion, where their guide for the day magically turned into Sir Bernard Lovell! The pupils heard all about how he came to build the Lovell Telescope and even got to hold a real meteorite! Afterwards, the pupils saw some interactive exhibits and learnt more about Space and the story of Jodrell Bank. Year 1 really enjoyed dressing up and having a go at some of the activities!

Reception get creative at the Whitworth Art Gallery

A great time was had by all when Reception visited the Whitworth Art Gallery. They did some sketching, creating and playing with 3D shapes, and pattern printing using flowers and leaves. It was fun to go on a coach and have a packed lunch too!

Dave Draws completes the Gorsey Bank Hall of Fame

The Gorsey Bank Hall of Fame is complete! 12 inspiring individuals selected by pupils and staff were given a permanent home in our school by the very talented Dave Draws.

Dave sketched each of the inspiration figures to create an impressive mural. He then came back to talk to the pupils about art and who his biggest inspiration was. Read more here…

Year 6 take a leap of faith at Condover Activity Centre

Year 6 thoroughly enjoyed their residential trip in May when they took a visit to Condover Activity Centre.

They all showed impressive bravery and teamwork, with many of them conquering their fears taking part in adventurous activities such as high ropes, trapeze jumps, abseiling and a laser trail!

Year 2 go back in time at Macclesfield Silk Museum

In May, Year 2 went to the Silk Museum in Macclesfield. The students learnt lots about the Victorians, with each class getting involved in three different activities. This included a tour of Paradise Mill, making rag rugs and a workshop about Victorian toys. What a great trip!
